As happens this an area that I have some knowledge of ( via those who make them. ) But the blades = ????

I would think for a mounted reiver (as opposed to a footloun) any good cut and thrust blade with some reach (blade of 32 inches or more) would do..... throughout the 16th c there is such a wide variety its hard to say "this one" or "this style". also don't underestimate the cutting ability of many "rapiers" nor their popularity. I have the Arms and Armor Cavalier 'Rapier' and its as capable in the cut as any other 17th c 'sword' I have........
thinking out of the box for a moment a single hand axe also seems to have been a favorite mounted reiver weapon and I recall a mention of the Armstrongs being fond of them (maybe in Fraser's book??) .... a lance, target, brace of pistols, dirk and an axe would make for a good late 16th c reiver kit imho ... tr

Thron, consider this a "neophyte" ?? For some reason, I ( although I was aware they carried, ) I some how = them being used "dismounted" &/or for non foray wear/use. ????
