A Khukuri with a blade under 6 inches long? 3/8 inch thick at the spine? Believe it or not there is precedent in the form of the Biltong, a short Khukuri popular in South Africa.
The CSD Khukuri is a knife that I made a few years back and will be making more of in the future. 'CSD' stands for Catastrophic Structural Damage- which the CSD's 8-1/2", 3/8 inch thick selectively hardened blade was certainly capable of inflicting...
So the other day I went in the shop to make a CSD but discovered the only piece of 3/8 inch stock that was broad enough was several inches too short. What the hell, I thought, why not make a mini-khukuri? So I did. The CSD-Micro shares the ergonomic philosophy of my EVO tacticals and modern features like a full-profile tang and removable scales. The blade is convex-ground from the spine to a zero-edge, and has a selectively hardened blade with a pronounced temper-line. The knife is 9-3/4 inches overall. The blade is 5-3/4 inches long by 3/8 inch thick. Weight is about 15 oz. I plan to offer these with G10 scales in either a bright finish or Parkerized finish.
So does a knife this short, thich and heavy really have utility? Check it out:

Really cute ( meant in a good way ) and sexy and I hope you keep making them since I think I will be eventually tempted to get one but I have been spending money a bit faster than it's been coming in lately so for the moment it will be a " nagging " temptation in the back of my mind.
Looks really nice and handy and " railroad engineered " which is something I have a weakness for.
You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!

You are the absolute maestro at sword-making. Yes, I know this is a "knife", but it's a KNIFE, KNIFE! Connie and I listen to your podcasts all the time. We love your casual, and naturally coolness-filled discussions. This blade definitely has your trademark craftmanship. (like I'm such an authority) You know we love your work. Eric says Hi.
