Hi all,
Here's a rather funny article pointed to by one of my favourite law blogs, Popehat. It describes the use of a trebuchet by Mexican drug smugglers.
http://customslaw.blogspot.com/2011/01/thats-trebuchet.html
I am always very amused and interested by the reuse of "old" technologies to make "new" things, as this trumps the usual vision of technological progress.
So, if you know of similar stories, I'd be very interested to hear about it!
In the meantime I will amuse myself with the picture of a medieval castle under siege by trebuchet-wielding Mexican drug smugglers (no doubt, pelting a castle with cocaine would be a very good siege tactic, as the defenders would soon be... pretty useless).
Cheers,
Simon
