Just read this on SFI about period rules about bouting where after a successful hit the " loser " could still take one step and make one attempt to hit the winner: If the winner failed to stop the " riposte " his initial successful attack would be considered null.

The point being that one should always be defensive after a winning blow to survive a possible " After Blow ": This seems all based on real tactics and fighting so as to make bouting realistic and train in valid to survival tactics.

These rules not being there just for " sports fighting " reasons and to score points.

Anyway, read the linked article and come back here to discuss it:

I think that this information should be seriously considered when establishing rules to judge who is the winner in a bout or duel and is different but related to the problem of judging double hits or in this case the last ditch retaliations expected by a wounded opponent in a real fight.

You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!
