I found a web site called: Wulflund from the Czech Republic. They advertize as specialising in Iron Age and Viking Age reproductions. They have some really nice Viking swords I've been interested in- advertised as "forged, for stage combat and reenactments" with blunt edges. Is there anyone out there who can vouch or comment on their historical accuracy or durability in stage combat?

Their web site is:

Hmmm. I can't vouch for their durability or handling as I've never handled one. The look of the swords themselves is kinda viking-ish. I would not say that these are historically accurate. To my eyes they also don't look very well made although without examining one it's hard to say. The cast hilt elements look pretty rough and the peen does not look very sound to me.

It's impossible to identify the makers by catalogue number, but as far as I could see, the swords come from various well-known Czech makers of reenactment swords. A lot of European reenactors use swords from these makers. In general, they are sturdy swords and look reasonably good at a distance from the audience. Nevertheless, there are differences between the various makers, especially in terms of weight and handling characteristics.
