ok, I have seen that my choice in swords was compleatly ignorant for my time period, somethiing with a nice taper and about 2 3/4 in wide at the handle, about 36 in long and non ornate. I think I've ALMOST made my choice, thank you all for your help. im gonna be moving to Minn so any A&A swords you can think of would be great.

anyone know where I can get a scabberd (steel?)? even just a sheath(leather?) would be good (there is a difference right??)

Arms & Armor can sell you a leather scabbard for the Duke of Urbino, which is good for transport, and they can also create a period appropriate custom scabbard as well (look in their 'Custom Pieces' section of the website). Be aware that a steel scabbard would NOT be historically correct for the late 14th/early 15th century; you'll want one that has wood core with leather wrap. Additionally, there are a number of artisans who could fashion one for you, though you'll probably need to send your sword to them, as these are made to specifically fit your blade.

A few scabbard makers: DBK Custom Swords, Tritonworks, Art Elwell (A-work-of-art), Christian Fletcher, and of course, Arms & Armor.

If you're going the DIY route, there are a number of excellent posts right here on this forum which go through the process almost step by step. The only problem with making one yourself is getting ahold of a chape. I can't give you any help there, but quite a few fellow forumites have been able to fabricate one, so if you decide to try your hand at making your own scabbard, ask around!
