After being indecisive about purchasing an Albion viking sword or the Gallowglass, I've decided to get a custom sword through OlliN. While I am likely to put some fantastical or anachronistic elements into the weapon, I'm not aiming to go any further off target than the (not-elven) swords from Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings. (I'm thinking, specifically, of giving it a bit of a Nazgul treatment. Not necessarily pitted and corroded and ancient, so much as just evil looking.)

Anyway, I'm interested in using a distinctively Norwegian/Scandinavian longsword or greatsword as the basis for this custom sword. If anyone could point me in the right direction to do my own research (short of a trip to Europe) or simply provide me with some of their own information, it would be much appreciated!

Maybe you should just buy new Albion's Dane. It's a Danish two hander and looks interesting enough without going fantasy.

I apologize for using the incorrect terminology. I meant to say that I am after information regarding swords of the type classified by Albion as hand-and-a-half swords, not a two-hander. While "The Dane" is on my To Buy list, it's not what I'm really looking for, right now. Further, I'm not looking at a custom sword because I want to own 1 of 100. Wink

I had seen that thread, but did not find much data that seemed relevant. I shall have to re-read it.

EDIT:
Done in pencil and scanned by a scanner via MS Paint (so the pictures suck).
