Kunstbruder, the Brotherhood of the Art, is a Boston area group that trains Medieval Longsword in the tradition of Lichtenauer. We study the Lichtenauer tradition as part of our affiliation with Forte Swordplay. The Brotherhood is also working to reconstruct the Medieval Sword and Shield tradition as well as other aspects such as Spear, Dagger and Grappling. Together these elements help to understand and recreate combat on the battlefield and in the list. Training prepares the student for one-on-one and melee combats.

Excellent news! As of March 1st we will be moving to a new, bigger space. One with exercise equipment, space for training gear storage and more.

The space is at Gymnasium a new gym opening in West Newton. Gymnasium is, "A member-led laboratory of the best of traditional and modern exercise." Gymnasium is located at 1001 Watertown St. (Rt. 16) in West Newton, MA (map).

Classes will be Monday and Thursday from 8:00p to 9:30p.

As we are at a new space - Gymnasium is new as well - there will be no membership costs for the month of March. So classes will be just $10 each and $30 for the month of March

In addtion to the classes you will also be able to practice there other days of the week, show up early to exercise first, and use the space for conditioning and strength training. In short it is a great space for creating an all-round good fencer.

Participation in the classes requires a membership to Gymnasium which starts at $45/month and a $5 for each Kunstbruder class for a monthly cost of only $65. Alternately you can obtain a day pass for $20. (Please note that prices are still subject to change)

If you're interested just send me a private message.
