Hi Ladies and Gentleman

Here a few shots from a blade i had made for a long term project from Viktor Berbekrucz.

The material i had asked him to use was a pattern weld steel i bought from a smith called M. Balbach who is known in Germany for the quality of his products. The material cut outs from a knife series he had made and i was able to get them quite cheap. I bought his last 6 kg from the series and send it to Viktor.

He just send me back these images with a few specs :

Weight: 1,5kg

Measurement of the tang:
Width: 1cm bis 2,5cm
Length: 35cm
Thickness: 5-7 mm

Measurement of the Blade:
(overall) Length: 135cm
Width (Ricasso): 3,9 cm
Width (blade): 4,7cm bis 1,1cm(2cm vor der Spitze)

The edge is at 1 mm at the moment as i will have it sharpened locally here in my area. So the blade is going to loose a little bit of weight.

Once i have it back from the sharpening i will post a few more shots before sending it out to be hilted. There is a certain company in MN wich agreed to take on the project.....

Best regards to everyone and happy Christmas !

Klaus

It looks like a nice project, what kind of sword you wanted to do with the blade ? (what type seem more apropriate for the question...)

Hi there

Aye i have a general Idea what i want to do. The sketch i send to A&A is enclosed here.

Its rigged up in paint so not very good, but i hope it conveys the idea.

If i dont run out of funds maybe an inscription along the fuller on both sides, not sure yet though as to what it would be.

Its not historic correct i am well aware of that. How ever i dont mind it. It just adds more to a personality of the finished product in my opinion.

Best regards

Klaus

Cool Cool

Even that Copy + paste sketch looks fine, so final thing will probably look marvellous. Plus it's big, big swords usually look impressive.

The only thing that I don't like is the pommel and guard carvings, but that's just my personal taste.

Looks really good to me even the engraving on both the pommel and guard. it looks like a king's sword Big Grin .
