Anlace (or anelace)
A form of the medieval French alenas which has the same root as the modern French alène (an awl) and refers to a medieval DAGGER with a stiff narrow pointed blade.
Misericorde
A term for daggers found in French and English texts of the 14th and 15th centuries; it probably referred to the daggers carried in combat by Knights. It subsequently became a romantic term for a dagger with a thin, pointed blade designed to penetrate mail or the joints between plates of armor. It was thought that a victim knocked to the ground or wounded pleaded for misericordia ("mercy") from the warrior closing in to finish him off; hence the modern name of this dagger.
I don't have the weight, but it's pretty light. Can''t be more than a pound if it's even that. Here's a few more pics including a progress shot. Glad you like it! Attachment: 50.93 KB
Again, very nice and mine is getting close to the point where Michael might post some pics: I've seen the blade pre-heat treat and clean up pics and it looks awesome. You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!
