Here is a picture of a heavy field armour for a burly German, located at the Higgins Armoury. The helmet is a burgonet with a falling buffe - I have seen burgonets which tapered towards the top, but never one that was as pointy as this one. It truly has an Eastern look to it, and I wonder if the design was inspired by the form of the Turkish "onion-dome" helmet? Does anyone have any other images of similar burgonets designed this way?

Here are three German examples. Dated 1540-1550, two from a catalog that listed them as "South German" and the third (the black and white with the flower cheek plates) is from a 3/4 harness that looks like it was made for a wealthy or ranking infantryman, also dated c. 1550.

And here's a later example (c. 1580 by the looks of it) that goes along with a unique cuirass and pauldrons, as well! Not sure where it's displayed...
