So my girlfriend and I are going to be having our one year anniversary pretty soon. I want it to be special, so I want to give her something special to commemorate it. Since I have no money, and because I'm me, I decided I want to make her a dagger. Historically, swords and blades were often traded as gifts among nobility and to commemorate special events like weddings and unions. The sword has always been revered and honored, and a finished blade is a representation of the the maker's passion for his craft. This blade will be a symbol of my passion for her through the craft. It's going to be a bodice dagger. There's some symbolism here as it's going to be a piece crafted specifically to fit her hand and body, and being a bodice dagger, it will be something that she can keep close to her heart.
I'm planning on using cable damascus for the blade, black iron for the fittings, and deer bone for the handle material. There's more symbolism there as we found the deer bone together while out on a hike.
I'm also doing some research into historical bodice daggers to draw influence from. That's why I'm posting here and letting the whole world know what a hopeless romantic sap I am.  Can anyone show me some pictures or turn me onto some information about historical bodice daggers? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!

But if she's not like the 99% and would prefer an edged weapon over flowers, she's a keeper

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Trust me fellas, if she was like 99% of the women out there I wouldn't be with her.  I've already told her that I plan on doing this and she pretty much turned to butter. She's definitely a keeper.
