Russ, Mi Bonum Amicum!
Your taste in beautiful things is yet again made evident. The pleasure of seeing things as lovely as these
has a wistfull quality about it, to try and not see you favorite swords as though they came out of a BUDK catalog
afterwards

ZOWIE!

That viking sword

just

does

it

all.

It's rare enough to find a maker who can duplicate the 3-D shapes of the viking hilt elements convincingly to a schooled eye, but the decoration on both sword and scabbard take it to a whole other level.
That's the part where if you're going to do it at all, you better be able to do it with conviction. Making a dead style of art live again, not by copying, but with a true new work in that style.
Only a handful out there can pull it off, and Jake is one of them.
The other neat thing is how the relatively plain look of the pattern-welding works with the overall business of the rest of the package. I think a very patterned blade here might have been overkill
I stand amazed. Eek!.

That goes beyound simply "excellent" or similar expletetives - it is a true art, and I just wish I had the funds to order something of such magnitude...

Oh Sad , Damn my casual wage! It's always annoying when you want something nice for your kit or just for the sake of owning a piece of art like this and you can't even afford the more expensive Windlass or Hanwei swords.
