Have a peek at this:

Is this an old sword, or a repro. someone is trying to pass off as old?

Is it worth anything? Decent piece to start a collection with?

Hi Angus

It's probably a Pattern 1828 fake , ? , but for $100.00 I figure I'd find out for sure !

I just saw that it had sold - and by the name, I thought it might be you Laughing Out Loud !

Let me know if I would have had a good deal (forgot to bid before I left work)!

Hi Angus

Here's a pic of the sword .... it was nothing special ( probably for the tourist trade ? )

The grip is some sort of plastic, or resin ? The hilt had some sort of gold plating ( over the brass), which has mostly been removed .... the blade's chrome has also been stripped off ( only a few signs of the etching (thistles) remain . Very blade heavy, unsharpend, pob about 5" inches IIRC.

If the hilt & blade were cleaned up a bit it would make a decent decorative piece ......
