|
|
Hi, I am looking for a source for decorative rivets and/or washers that could be used to rivet armor. As a side note, I am also looking for sources of large lots of period style brass buckles. These are to complete my 14th century (late) kit.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks!

Grace,
Hello and welcome to myArmoury.com. I've moved your post from the Marketplace to our Off-Topic Talk forum. Since you're essentially seeking advice on where to buy, this is the correct location.

Hello, have a look a bestarmour.com
they have an extensive range of rivets and matching washers cut from sheet metal, but see the price, this is not cheap.

One of the two Ukrainian armourers (unfortunately I can't remember which) that sell items over on Armourarchive.org has a selection of decorative rivets, including a beautiful lion head rivet. But again, these don't come cheap.
If you search there for "lion head rivet" you should be able to find it. There's been several discussions on them in the past.

Doug Strong of Talbots sells a decorative rivet via Revival Clothing Company, but he/they are currently out of stock and will be that way for a while (as I understand it) and he has buckles.
Raymond the Quiet sells some very nice decorative washers that work with a 3/16 brass rivet from R. J. Leahy. I'm waiting on 60 of them for a project. Middle of page plus he has buckles
You can get bulk buckles from Revival.US (not the same company as Revival Clothing Company) but be prepared to clean them up and file the sharp edges down so they don't shred your straps.
Correct buckles also can be found at Gaukler Medieval Wares
Good luck with your project!
Cheers,
David

This is Steel Mastery's eBay Store. They are a little cheaper than their regular site and have just what you are looking for. I have bought from them with great results, having most items within 2 weeks from the Ukraine.
