I tried to find this topic with the search feature but could not find what I really want.
What is the best way to display a sword? I have seen the stands and little hangers, is there a benefit to one over the other? Also does anyone have any good ideas on how to make a wall hanger or stand? It seems like if it was in a stand that standing on it's tip would have an adverse affect, like warping. I welcome all ideas.

And also I would like to ask how did Medieval sword owners store their swords when they were not being worn or used? Did they just toss them in a chest until needed or did they display them also?

I use the little "invisible" sword hangers that scissor together. You can get them on ebay for $3 or buy them from MRL for $12 I posted pics of them on here before.

Searching for the words "sword display" yielded these topics just in the last year:

And there are many older ones as well. Happy

I've used a display that stands the swords on end for years and have notice no warping or dulling of any kind. You can see the stand here (at the end of the thread).

Actually they don't full stand on their end/tip, they really lean on one edge as the slots in the stand are all angled except the middle one in the back.

Finding the "best" way may be like trying to find the "best" sword. Happy You have to define what "best" means for you, and understand that not everyone may agree with that. The simple answer is to make sure the display does no harm to the swords (no woods that harm steel, no positions that really stress the swords, nothing banging against each other or falling off easily, etc.). Then just make sure it fits your aestheti, space, and budgetary needs.

Happy
