Swiss Officer Sword Model and Year
Morgan, I think we need an expert to determine this sword's model and year.

According to OldSwords.com it is probably the Swiss M1867 infantry officer's sword.

I had come to that conclusion as well. I also saw a model that had the fixed belt clip on the back ala WW1. This one didnt, having the 2 rings, so I assumed it was closer to 1867. But this was a beautiful sword. Nice short 28 inch blade. And that broadened tip! Beautiful. It reminds me of something John Carter of Mars would use.

Did you have the winning bid, Morgan? :)

Not actually, but close. At the last minute I put in $625, even though I said my French Mounted Artillery sword was my last buy for the decade. I was a little bit releaved to be out-bid by another 75 bucks. So it went to some fortunate buyer for $700.00. But that was one hell of an interesting weapon. I wonder how it handled? However my inspiration for this thread was not to figure e-bay value on the weapon. I had already decided to bid on it. I was just intellectually curious on the model year. I wouldnt have cared if it was from the 1930's!
