Could you kindly tell me who is suppoused to be the best expert of ancient swords in the world? Another words, who has the most powerful voice in this space?m
Anyway I would be really glad if you give here the names of good experts to have an opportunity to communicate with them.

Hi Juliette,
While the 'expert' term creates a lot of disturbance, there are a number of well qualified authorities, Which 'ancient' weapons are you looking into? Roman, Greek, Migration, Scythian, Persian, Arab, Celtiberian, Frank, Chinese, etc.
What specifically are you looking into?

Jim is right. Just think of how long history is, and you know there's no actual start date. So how ancient are we talking? Also, which region? Jim gave a good list of examples, and there's plenty more where that came from.

And we also have to define "sword"... Is it actually just swords you want to know about? And does a sword have to be metal? Are you interested in the swords as artworks and the technology in them, or do you want to know more about how they are used?

These things are important, because I don't think that in the entire world that there's going to be ONE omnipotent scholar with endless knowledge about all things ancient and swordlike, but you will find someone who can answer every question you have, whether it be with concrete facts or wide beliefs. Ask the questions and see who answers...

You chose a good place to come to communicate with sword scholars and masters, though. All these guys know their stuff...

You are right, I should have given more details in my message.
So, I have just been asked for a help in the process of identification the sword. It means that I'm not a specialist in such a subject... And there is no doubt I have chosen a good place to come to communicate with sword scholars and masters. Happy

This sword must have been an example of Slavonic or Orient culture of Middle Ages. And I'm quite afraid that it would be rather difficult to find the authority opinion here in Russia.
Actually the question consist of more methodology of making swords than the historical aspect. Because weapon specialists have said they are really surprised be the method of making and more than that they have never seen this method before. It's a little bit hard to explain you all the details of making now because unfortunately I don't know the terminology in English (frankly speaking, in Russian also Happy

) But sure I will consult with the dictionary if it needs to.

Hope now the situation is more clear to understand.

Dear Juliette,

I think the best thing for you to do is to get hold of a digital camera, take some pictures of the sword, and then start a new post where you show the sword and ask some questions about it. Then the 'experts' (people with a specific interest in your specific sword type) will be more likely to give you some serious and direct responses.
