I popped down to York today and visited the Castle Museum. It was more for my wife than for myself, so I wasn't expecting to find that much that stood out for me, but there were some interesting displays that I thought might interest you (the last is quite obviously my personal favourite):

4th photo: it's this some sort of protection? Like a gambeson, or only a dress? I can't distinguish which one...

It is a buff from the 17th indeed. In fact likely owned by a fairly important mover and shaker of that period. The sleeves are well padded as well and are of fabric not leather.... I am glad it is out now. Another example of late padded armours. Interesting mix of leather and fabric. Everytime I saw it (which was fairly often) I thought how cool it would be on display. Look very nice out there. A great museum for you 16th and 17th century reenactors. If anyone fits in that group and is in York let me know if you will be stopping by there.
