The so-called "ring pommel", where the tang can be seen passing through the middle, is typically associated with the Irish, but I was wondering if we have evidence for them being carried by other nationalities?

these can be seen in late roman era. 3rd-5th centuries. a lot of them are thought to be calvary swords. though i don't know if any or all of them have the tang threw the open circle area or not. most that i have seen do not.
