Does anyone know of a maker or manufacturer who will sell only a finished blade? Need not be sharp. Looking for Viking or early style blades... Thanks

Raymond,

The Mad Piper buys unmounted blades directly from Fulvio Del Tin. Fulvio makes one of his blades just for his swords.

According to my opinion maybe it's odd to see unmounted sword blades on sale.

Shahril, it may be unusual in this day and age (though maybe not) but it used to be quite common, at least in Europe, for blades to be made in one center of manufacture and then sold unfinished for others to hilt.

Doug-That's true. Being a cutler-mounting and balancing a blade to the owner's taste, was a specialized craft.Mr Oakshot mentions it in a number of his books.

Thank you Shane, that is an excellent resource. I have visited their site in the past but somehow missed that.
