Well that's a whole different conversation and off topic really. We all have laws to abide to - you can't buy all weapons without a permit in Florida either. It is not a black and white issue but one of degrees.
But please keep this thread tidy and don't everyone start poluting it with political speeches. It is a useful thread for UK citizens and really doesn't concern any one else.

I agree with most of what you said Matt, but us colonials do get a bit worried about what happens on your side of the pond because those ideas on weapon control frequently influence law makers on our side of the pond. I think that our law makers look at what they consider to be the benefits of your stricter laws and decide that it would be better for us too.

As a sword smith who makes in falchions and Sabres I have a definite interest in the law and keep in contact with the relevant officials in the home office fairly regularly. There have been rumours that they have been considering a ban in straight swords the last time I spoke to them i was told that they had no plans to make any other changes to the law in the foreseeable future. I hope this helps.
