Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to start learning the proper techniques of the medieval sword, sword and buckler, and longsword (and rapier too!). Until now, my training has been limited to several years of competitive Epee fencing. If anyone knows of a good place in or within public transportation distance of Boston, I would be greatly obliged. I'm a college student in the area (majoring in Medieval history and minoring in archaeology), but sadly one without a car.

Thanks,

Joe

Check out Forte Swordplay.

http://www.forteswordplay.com/

They're run by Jeff Tsay. While I've never personally trained with the group, I know Jeff, and he's an excellent martial artist and good instructor, as well as a person who's dedicated to recreating the arts based on the texts. They focus on the German Liechtenauer tradition.

Bill,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check that out ASAP.

Best,

Joe
