Hello!
Greetings to everyone from London! Happy

Last week I've been to The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambrige. In the arms and armour section I've seen a longsword with a brazil nut pommel. Unfortunately it was not allowed to make photos Sad

On the note belonging to the sword it was written, that it is 1 and 1/2 hander sword, circa 1250. Does anybody have any information or picture about that sword?

Type XII
Type XIII

I'm betting it's the former as opposed to the latter.

I remember that sword, (I went there in 2005, so my memory is rusty, also the type XVII next to it was better preserved, I think).

The Fitzwilliam web site produces a few results for 'hand-and-a-half sword' and the one with a brazil nut pommel seem to be of unknown type, but there's one with an 'oval pommel' that is XIIIa.

I'm thinking about making a sword based on that one in question. That's why I need a photo. However this won't be my next project.
