This is a sword I picked up a couple years ago. My guess is 18th C. I have my ideas as to what it is. Does the shape or markings on the blade look familiar to anyone?
The blade is 24 inches long, more than 1/4 inch thick at the spine with a very deep fuller. It's a very thin, light piece, but also completely rigid. Weighs almost exactly one pound as is.
Any insights would be most appreciated.

Judging by the profile of the blade & and the etchings on the blade, including the "Vive le Roi(y)" I believe this blade to be from a 18th century "Piemonte" hanger. I wish I could provide you with more information on the model, but I can provide some examples for you.

regards,
Stephen

Wow!
I think your're right! The eagle crest looks pretty much exactly the same as does the way the lettering is "filled" with diagonal lines.
Dang, that was fast!
Thanks Stephen!
I would like to know more about this sword/style, etc.
Joe
