Greetings everyone,

I am raising a quick question regarding the historical accuracy of the sword chest-cross belt. The vast majority of sword belts I have seen are waist-mounted. This both makes good common sense and is historically accurate. They are easy to use, put on, and make the weapon accessible. My question is what of the sword belts that went across the chest, and mounted the sword on the back. Are these seen in history? Are they practical and servicable for storage? I could justify the idea that you would want to carry a sword on the back in a more stable, and out of the way position for long-marches, or when mounted. So, what is the group opinion? Fantasy toys or was there a precedent?

That was actually a pretty decent thread. Big Grin

Indeed, it is a good thread. It sort of spins off into the realm of tangency, but hey, what doesn't after a while?
