I have owned one of these blades for years.
I am in need of advice on it's repair. It is very important to me that I do this correctly.
The blade and hilt are in fine shape, but the handle needs a bit of work .
There is a part of me that wants to take the sword and totally restore it due to the defect.
Sacrilige, I know, but how far is resonable to actually go in the restoration and preservation?
A sword which is not in fighting trim is little better than a stick.
I don't know the answer, any help out there?

Get in contact with Tom Nardi @ Sword Restoration Services. He can fix you right up.
He's been restoring vintage Amer. Civil War sabres and swords for a long time.
Just do a Google search using "Sword Restoration Services" to bring up his web page.
Cheers,
Bill

Thank's Bill.
I will certainly contact the gentleman.
Have any tips on a modern banger I could purchase to get the same feel?
I was thinking about modifying something, but not sure where to start.
I know that may seem off topic, but I really want something that will appoximate the heft and feel that I don't have to feel quilty about tearing up.
