I've just had the joy of visiting the RA in Leeds, just a short ride up the tracks from home for me, where I discovered somthing interesting in the Littlecote gallery section. Item iv.159 North European pot from about 1630. I'd say it's 99.999% identical to this helmet, apart from the RA helmet is little more polished. Oooopppsss!

Firstly sorry for the lengh of time in replying, I have identified this helmet as a Harquebusier Helmet of about 1630 possibly made in England, thanks again one and all
