Hello everyone,
I'm considering purchasing the "Blackened Rapier" from MRL/ Windlass. Does anyone own one or has anyone handled one enough to make any recommendations for or against? I'm awaiting my first sword (from Albion), but in the mean time I thought it might be fun to have a Rapier to handle and look at, and this one isn't too expensive. Albion says they are going to eventually make a Rapier, but it could take a long time and will probably cost quite a bit more than this one from MRL. And (I believe) MRL ships right away. Just something to tide me over.
Thanks,
Doug

I was going to suggest that you look at Lutel in the Czech Republic, but I notice that their prices ahve recently shot up quite a lot so that they are nearly as expensive as Albion. Wow!

It not that their prices have changed so much as it is that the value of the dollar is way down. My most recent purchase from them, in May of this year, is costing me about twice what my previous purchase did even though the posted prices in local currency are basically the same. Dollar just buys half as many CZK Koruny as it did the last time around.
That said the product is decent and they are easy to work with.
Wait seems to be a bit over 3 months right now. In the grand scheme of sword buying that is pretty quick, even if its not tomorrow quick!
