Received my copies from the David Brown Book Co. a few days ago at a cost of $87.50. Was shocked at the quick response; about a week from ordering to receipt. Have just thumbed through some portions and found them to be very promising.

Thanks to Nathan and Sean for the alert.....

I absolutely have to make one of those 'gun shields'

Fantastic books and for any having problems getting it, Paul Meekins books has several copies at £50 for the boxed set and worth twice that easily for the quality of content.

Just got my copy and thumbed through it. Unfortunately, it has to be sent back because it arrived with the slipcase torn in several spots around the opening. Sad

With new books, I just won't put up with that. Fortunately, Amazon makes returns easy.

Videos (three short films)
Mary Rose 2003
A short film about the 2003 site investigations and excavations. It outlines the Ministry of Defence’s potential plans to dredge a new deeper and straighter channel into Portsmouth for the new aircraft carriers. This would have cut into the 500m zone of protection around the wreck site, and provided funding for specific work onsite. Written by Alex Hildred, narrated and produced by Stephen Foote.

Reunion and Reburial 2003–2005
A short film put together from 2004 site film footage and extracts from the BBC Timewatch programme Secrets of the
Mary Rose. It introduces the plans for the 2005 season to recover the stem and anchor and rebury the site following
the excavations of 2003–2005. Written and partly narrated by Alex Hildred, produced by Kester Keighley. Reproduced by permission.

Making and firing Mary Rose guns
This film is an excerpt of a documentary produced by Yorkshire Television and the Royal Armouries. The
excerpt features the building and firing of reproductions of a wrought iron and a cast bronze gun between 1998 and
2000. Included by permission of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Armouries. Produced by Kester Keighley.

Mine showed up yesterday as well, and it's a VERY nice set. Are you sure yours didn't have the DVD? My DVD was attached inside the back cover of the second book...

Just my luck. I received my replacement copy on Monday and realized today the back hinge of one volume is cracked from the top down 4 inches or so. So it's going back for yet another replacement.

Between the torn slipcase of the first set I got and the cracked hinge of the second, I wonder if I have to worry about the long-term durability of the product.

I think these are pretty cheaply bound, Chad. They just have that look and feel about them. On the other hand, fine binding and heavier stock would have priced the set far out of my reach so I don't mind. I left one volume in my car all day during an Alabama August and returned to find warping of pages and covers. It has returned to normal after spending more time in the slipcase, but beware of such effects. Definitely not a book to just leave open on a workbench.

I just discovered the table of contents page numbers don't match what's in the book. Nifty.

They may be cheaply bound, but I would hope I could at least start with an undamaged set. Happy

Excellent, I'm glad it was there. I haven't made it to far into mine yet, just around page 10 or so, mostly talking about the Anthony Roll and the excavation methodology, but it has been interesting nevertheless.

Fortunately, mine seems to have arrived in pretty good condition.

Got my "Damaged" copy today for $25. I guess I lucked out, the back bottom of the dust jacked is slightly crumpled and the matching corners of the books are the same, but over all hardly noticeable. Yea! awsome stuff. Tobad there was really no armor found, but glad it covers the era and eplains everyhting in great detail. Have some reading and looking at cd rom to do.

Well, my second replacement set (3rd overall) also arrived damaged. I now have an email into the folks at David Brown about the slightly damaged copies they say might be available. If I'm going to have a damaged set, I'd at least like to pay less....

After reading everyone's praise for the book set, I ordered mine through Amazon - $73 bucks and no shipping charge was a very good deal. Luckily no damage to the book or case. Beautiful set! Thanks all for the thread which pointed me to the book.
