Hi Craig,

I also notice that they are calling the symbols on the blade "inscriptions", It appears that no iron or non-ferrous metal remains in the grooves but wouldn't some type of inlay be more likely than a straight inscription? Maybe there is no way to know.

Just to resurect this thread, I found a link with some really big and nice pictures of this sword. Has anything been published in English about this sword since 2010? It's really a fascinating sword...
