Welp, hello again.
While inspecting some old Sumerian artifacts and reading to learn a bit more about their military, i finally reached the one big interesting piece that very often comes up when discussing this topic, the "Standard of Ur". While most of the stuff shown on it is pretty explicit, like the charioteers with their javelins and the groups of spearmen, one peculiar figure got my attention. near the middle of the mosaic, a man seems to be striking down an enemy with a very oddly bent weapon, almost too specifically bent to be just an artifact.
I'm not sure what it could be; i could be some sort of weird wooden mace, but the very specific shape leads to think that it perhaps could have been some sort of edge weapon. The only example of single-edge weapon from that time and period i know of is roughly some form of Khopesh, but the shape seems different. Could it be some sort of forgotten single-edge machete or falchion-like weapon ?
Or is it just really a mace ?

I believe that's the haft of an axe--the head is the gold area between the victim's head and the other guy's cloak.

Yep. It is an axe. The head would have been a lot easier to see before the gold faded. It has been heavily restored so what we are seeing today is just a guess.
