If you haven't done this already (which you may have, of course)
Appears to be papal ceremonial sword. See this link

There may be more, that's just from a quick google.

no, i hadn't thought to google,
am i a duffer or what, Eek!

Thanks for the link,much appreciated as it also shows another sword i thought looked very Cool

I was mainly interested in the hilt set up and was considering a munition grade inspired type/design.
Something to mull over for the future,
