I don't know if someone asked this question before but do daggers or knives have a desinated blade length, and if a dagger or knife does have a long enough blade, lets say 12" inches long could it be considered a short sword?

Are there any books, manuals, etc. that go into depth about how to classify a knife/dagger or sword blade just by its length alone?
