Hey everyone!

Well, it's been a curiosity for some time, but up until now all I've seen as far as reproductions for early "lock" pistols have been the Denix replicas. I was wondering if anyone knew where I might be able to find a reasonably inexpensive (<$400) reproduction of a wheel-lock or flintlock pistol or musket (c.1650-c.1750)?

Thanks in advance!!

Here are a few ideas for you. Mostly Flintlocks, but some matchlocks and a couple doglocks. I haven't seen any wheellocks, but I'm sure there are some out there:

A very good question. I too have been looking high and low for a supplier of replica early firearms.

This is the best list of links to suppliers I've found:

http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Campground/8551/suppliers.html

I have done business with Loyalist Arms, I purchased their 'English Lock Pistol' and was pleased with the pistol, the price, and the service. I'd order from them again.

However, thus far I've been unable to actually purchase a wheel lock carbine or pistol, my main interest. Most suppliers are either continously out-of-stock, are looking for a new supplier, only sell the parts but not an assembled piece, or have a long waiting list (I'm hopeful that a carbine from Albion Small Arms (no association with the sword folks) will eventually be in my collection). Syke's Sutlery does, occationally, have a couple of matchlock designs in-stock.

I'd appreciate any other suggestions and the best of luck in your search,

Kevin

You might also try Traditions Firearms at www.traditonsfirearms.com or an Italian company David Pedersoli at www.davide-pedersoli.com.

I have purchased a pair of dueling pistols from Traditions and was quite pleased. I haven't used Pedersoli, but I understand their products are quite highly thought of.

Pedersoli's makes a nice if not quite historically accurate Queen Anne-style pistol:

The best price I've seen is $210 US at Cherry's.
