Just thought that someone might find this interesting.

Italian (Venice), ca. 1490. Steel, engraved, etched, and gilded, length 36" (91.5 cm). Purchase, The Lauder Foundation Gift. 1984.73

Latin inscription in uncial lettering- "INDEOFACIEMUSVIRTUTEEDIPSEADNICHILUM/DEDUEDTRIBULANTESNOS"

Source: Notable Acquisitions (Metropolitan Museum of Art), No. 1983/1984 (1983 - 1984), pp.20-25

Very interesting and quite ornate. Does anyone have any other pictures of it?

The Met has added this sword to their online database recently.

I took a few photos of this sword during a visit in June 2009, and transcribed the label. It was difficult getting good shots because of the dim lighting of the gallery.
