Hi all, a little while ago i was taking part in a re-enactment battle, and during the fight there was a band playing, we to say the least good music stirs the blood and makes people (well me at least) fight that little bit harder and longer.

So it got me thinking what music would be the best to fight to,

so my choices are either disturbed, indestructible, violence fetish or slipknot only one.

What would you suggest is the best song to fight to ?

"You're the best...around...no one's gonna ever get you down..." :)

It's from the Karate Kid, by Joe Esposito. The song is called "You're the Best". Very cheesy song, but gets me going every time. I use it as one of my standard workout songs when I do solo practice.

Interesting topic!

Well, I'm not even Scottish but they could play almost anything on the bag pipes and it'll get my juices flowing! Then, of course, there's Wagner's Flight of the Valkyries, if ever there was music to inspire one to be a berserker, that's it! Too bad Wagner was such a creep!

Well.....you could start off a fight by performing a Maori Haka like the All Blacks Rugby team from NewZealand do if you were in a group.
I have a cunning plan Mr. B.

I don't know about a song, but here's something some warriors were bellowing one night in "Merlin's Godson"-a little grim, but I like it...

DRINK! DRINK!
LET OUR CANNIKINS CLINK!
AND LET US ALL BE MERRY!
FOR WITH THE DAWN,
WE MUST BE GONE,
AND THERE WILL BE SOME TO BURY!

GLUG GLUG GURG...BUUURRRRPPP! (My addition)

Personally any Amon Amarth song gets the pagan blood running through my veins.

I may have to second amon amarth, and add songs by Tyr, Leaves Eyes, and Ensiferum, especially Ensiferum's "Into Battle" on the Iron cd. It seems I cannot do anything wrong when that song is playing.

Wow, lotsa good recommendations. I'd hafta say anything by Disturbed or Godsmack, Apocalyptica's got some good butt-whuppin' music too. "Death is the Answer" by Early Man would be another good rock tune, as would "This is the new Sh*t" by Marylin Manson. Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart", A Perfect Circle's "Counting Bodies Like Sheep", "Cry for Help" by Shinedown or "Battle Without Honor or Humanity" from the KIll Bill vol. 1 soundtrack would all be good ones too. I especially like Muse's "Knights of Cydonia". With the lyrics "No one's gonna take me alive/The time has come to make things right/You and I must fight for our rights/You and I must fight to survive", it just makes me wanna charge headlong into a group of foes :D . Then there's also the classic "Duel of the Fates" from Star Wars, or the almost-overdone-to-the-point-of-cheesiness 1st movement of the EPIC Carmina Burana, "Fortuna: Imperatrix Mundi". Knowing what the words translate to makes it SOOOOOO much cooler, and unfortunately also makes me cringe whenever it's poorly slapped onto some dumb tv commercial. I guess it ultimately depends on the tone of the fight. Am I just brawling and laying down some smack? Taking sweet, dark revenge? Or(my personal favorite), am I coming down on my foe with the glorious and terrifying wrath of a vengeful god?

Those are my favorites anyway.

a traditional german folk song originally sung by the Landsknechts serving under Florian Geyer, here performed by the great punk band Commandantes - > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLgpsM03KLI&am..._embedded#

and this version of "Fields of Athenry" by the Dropkick Murphys from Boston really starts me up -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10agPj0Vzu4

I vote "Drink and Fight" by mudmen. Good Celtic Punk band from Canada

"O'malley singin Danny Boy
Filled my eyes with tears
so I kicked his nuts right into his guts
and had another beer!"

This is the best quality video I could find but it sounds much better on CD.

It's not so much a song, but a "prayer" that my group uses before entering a melee:

Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk),
At home as it is in the pub.
Give us this day our foamy head,
And forgive us our spillage's,
As we forgive those who spill against us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer, The bitter, The lager.
BARMEN. :)

...and that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana shaped. - Sir Bedevere

Well, anytime I've been in a real fight I've never paid much attention to the entertainment opportunities going on around me. ;)

Now in a sporting situation, whether it be martial arts, exercising in the gym, etc. I don't listen to music as it distracts my focus. I don't find it invigorating or motivating, only distracting, but that's just a personal preference.

that Requiem for a dream song is kinda depressive

anyhow, THIS is what i used to listen to when i was younger, and still do on occasion, altough its more like Death in June, Der Blutharsch, C93 and Lustmord now...

enjoy the violence

GG Allin's cover by the Wolfpack - Shoot, Knife, Strangle, Beat & Crucify

Hatebreed - Live for this (if you dont live for something you'll die for nothing)

Pantera - Fucking Hostile

Discipline - Everywhere We Go

The 4 Skins - EVIL (i like breaking arms and legs Snapping spines and wringing necks Now i'll knife you in the back Kick your bones until they crack I'm evil, evil, evil, evil Evil, evil, evil, evil)

Sodom - Agent Orange

Benediction - They Must Die Screaming

Wumpscut - Krieg

________________________________________________________
and then after the fight some beatiful classical music for celebration
________________________________________________________

Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky - 1812 Overture (Finale), written to honour success in defense of Moscow from Napoleon

Claudio Monteverdi -> " Orpheus" Toccata

Marc-Antoine Charpentier -> Te deum "Prelude" oratorio

Johann Strauss Sr. -> Radetzky March

the best national anthem EVER -> La Marseillaise

Original fight song from Jan Zizka in copy from 15century.
Annals say that this song won one of Hussits battle with crusaders.
