Hi All,

Just to let everyone know who is attending Sterckshof 2009 that 'Tods Stuff' and 'The English Cutler' will be having a market stall there - 6 linear meters/7 yds of knives, daggers, axes, swords, crossbows, belts, buckles, dress accessories, knife kits, slings, maces, plates, sharpening kits, pouches, sewing accessories and the ever popular earscoop.

I hope to see you there and any 'myArmoury' forumite will get a 10% discount because I am leaving the 3 kids at home and am feeling in a holiday mood!

It rather sounds like I will enjoy meeting you lot in person too.

Seriously though I have been wanting to go for years so I am quite excited.

See you there

I'm less than one year old on this site. Do you mean Sterckxshof, Deurne, Antwerp in Belgium? Could I get some more information? Thank you.

You're right, it's that Sterckshof.

This event is awesome! Huge battle, gigantic encampment (300 authenti-tents + traders) and laidback atmosphere.

Gret link, great pics, all in all an impressive venue. Is this an annual event ? Any french speaking Belgians in attendance?
Any english or french language web site?
Tod, maybe you can help us out on this should north american XVth century buffs wish to attend at some later date?
Cheers, JC

I have never been before but there will be people from all over Europe, all the Dutch will speak English, all the Belgians will speak French, there will be loads of French, many of whom also speak English and the same for the Germans.

I don't think there is an English or French site but just the forumites who have been they will tell you all you need to know I am sure and I can post a report when I get back.

Generally at these things the further you are from the more welcome you are

Is this event a private only or is there a visitor day, during the regular opening times of the museum? Some of those events seem to be open for participants only.

Visitors are most welcome during the day, unfortunately the website is only in flemish, but as long as you can find the event, it's no problem at all. Everyone communicates with each other, as good as they can. There are two events I never want to miss, and this is one of the two. Great atmosphere!

Here are some photo's of last year to get in the mood:

This is a photo from the camp of 2007. Last years camp was even bigger, with the small drill patch below right also filled with tents.. :D

T minus four hours before departure.. :D I can't wait to be there again!

Even better, I heard this year would be even bigger since they can use an extra part of the park.

@ Bart (Boskaljon); not saying I am going to 15th c stuff, I'm just interested in seeing that event, and some of Tod's knives IRL.

15th c armour is too expensive for me, and 15th c clothing is too silly. :p
