A post on reddit asked a question about an object that looks like a sword pommel, yet doesn't look like any pommel I've seen before.
There is not much information to go on, other than the title: Pommel of a sword. Unfortunately one of my ancestors removed the patina with a brass brush around 1945 in the Rhineland, Germany. What era could it be from? In r/Viking they think it's relatively new. and two photos:
