Hi All,

In the recent thread about decorated scabbards I saw a layout that would work perfectly with an upcoming scabbard project I had and this is the result, including the decorative crest requested by the customer.

The sword is an Albion Solignen and is dated 1265 1330 and the scabbard was dated bang in the middle of this. Horseshoe chapes were still being used at this point, but were becoming more elaborate and so I mastered a new one for this project that is based on one dated around 1300.

I have also included a close up of the same chape from another scabbard.

That looks great Tod. The attention to detail on the chape reaaly makes it pop.

I always follow with great interest whatever you come up with. I admire your craftmanship and the results are always inspiring and great. And your threads detailing the proces get my undivided attention, how it is done. Could you, please, show us the backside of that scabbard, I really like to know how it is made at the back.

This is a stunning scabbard. Your eye for mixing historical elements from the proper period is commendable. In my opinion, it is your level-headed consideration of historical probability that stands out most in your works that aren't based on any singular artifacts. A fine line to tread sometimes, but one you do well. Cheers!
