Welp, congratz to the winners, may you make cool stuff now.

Halters for the silly neck that cannot keep a crown.
As my loss is grievous, so my hope is small.
For Iron, Cold Iron, must be master of men all..."

Leo Todeschini wrote: | The 5 winners of this stage should email me and choose one of the blade types from my kit page http://www.todsstuff.co.uk/theenglishcutler/k...knives.htm I will try to supply a blade as close to their prefference as possible. They can also choose from wood scales (name type), bone or light or dark horn. Wood will be easier to use. The wood available is box, blackthorn, holly, lace wood, elm, ash, pear, walnut
They can also specify, copper, brass or steel rivet material and whether they want any other bits of material for bolsters etc.
This level of customisation is not generally available for the kits, but this is a special occassion!

Just curious, but would this level of customisation be available for the people who didn't win but wish to do the unoffical contest afterwards?

Excellent!
I was feeling a little down tonight having totally failed to stop a kitchen tap leaking - now having seen what you can make from what, to me, seems like a collection of scraps and unidentifiable bits of wood, I feel totally despondent. I could not do that in a million years.
It must be very satisfying to be so creative!

You CAN, Neil!!!! I, for one, have much more success with arms and armour than I do with plumbing.

Thanks Sean! Now I am not soaked and annoyed at having avoided paying a plumber I am feeling much more optimistic I must admit . Between Tod's work, this competition and your own creative output I feel rather inspired to have a go at a Ballock dagger kit actually (it looks slightly less fiddly maybe?)
I would also like to make it clear I intended no slight on Tod's kits - they look like a fine set of components and each of the knife blades has a real character of its own. Seeing raw material transformed into little works of art is always a bit magical to me.
I am eager to see all the final entries in the competition - good luck to all!
Neil.

Seconded. Did you glue (epoxy) the bolster rather than solder them prior to riveting? I'm sure it works just as well.
