HI Nathan
Yeah, it's a beauty alright ..... truely a magnificent example of the Highland big boys !
The stats give this one a 14 1/2" hilt length ...... bet mine will be bigger *g* Mac

Mac, that has got to be the most graceful and stylish looking claymore that I've ever seen.
When you first showed me photos of the original, on which this would be based, I wasn't wild about it. Now, after seeing Vinces interperatation I love it!
It's a keeper, no doubt about it.

Hi Patrick
I asked Vince how he felt the piece was handling , so far, and what it was weighing in at ?
Here's what he wrote :
"Hi Mac,
The sword feels good although it has definite blade presence probably due
to a lack of weight on the pommel end. It currently weighs in at 4 lbs.
4-3/4 oz. Point of balance is somewhere about 7-8 inches ahead of the
guard if I remember correctly. I added a ferrule at the top of the grip
for fear of the wood splitting like all the originals I've seen. - Vince"

If the finished sword stays even close to that light weight it's going to be a devastatingly fast cutter for it's size.
Constant and true.

That's sword is just perfect Mac. Let me know when you sell it okay? you are going to sell right? ah c'mon!
There's always so much talk about the perfect sword. Maybe it's not the sword, but perhaps the talented smiths who create them.
Maybe one day we'll see a clamshell claymore by Vince Evans? Well, one can only dream.
Try not to take yourself too seriously.

WOW! It certainly has graceful lines with the oval pommel. It certainly makes the whole sword look fast and sleek! Vince does wonderful work with the wood as well! Very pleasing to the eye. Major congrats here! >drool<

Now thats a Claymore...
Mac, did Vince give you the final stats yet?
I was amazed that it was only 4lbs while he was still working on it. My Del Tin 5156 is almost the exact same weight (4lbs 3oz) and not nearly as big.

I have to say again that I love this sword.
I love the proportion of the blade in relation to the hilt. The shape of the pommel flows neatly down into the sweep of the guard. This has got to be one of my personal favorites of Vinces handi-work.
It doesn't get any better than this.
Thank goodness Mac's finally getting a few "man swords" in his collection
