Got the blade, need to make Zweihänder handler.
Could you tell me how historical where made ?

I want to make it using wood and leather. In a simple way.
The way i see it ... in the pic. But i can't understand how to fix leather strap in top and bottom.
May be buy full peace of leather and sew it?

What you've drawn would probably work, but it is going to be much easier to just glue your leather to the wooden grip core directly. Elmer's wood glue will work just fine, but if you want an adhesive that is more historically feasible, I would go with hide glue.

I've sewn a leather grip onto a sword using synthetic sinew and it turned out very well. It was easy, took less than an hour and seems to be sturdy. The modification was made too recently for me know how sturdy it will be in the long run.

This thread on the techniques that Christian Fletcher uses may be of use.

Probably what the others have suggested is better, but I have done a spiral wrap with a strap. I held the guard end in place by overwrapping once before starting to spiral up the grip, and at the top I put a tight fitting brass ferrule to cover the 'free' end of the strap. It was also glued all the way up, as I wound. Only works if you can add the pommel afterwards, of course, but it looks like you can do that, from the drawing. It's been on about three years now and not come loose yet. I doubt it is authentic, but then neither was the sword.

On a tangent: how we're the ends of various grip wraps done. Is the ring/ferrule method accurate? I've heard mention of turk's head knots but never seen one.
