I've seen people on this forum mention The Knight and the Blast Furnace more than any other book, so I might look into getting a copy and checking it out. It seems it is a $300 book! Even on Amazon :eek: I'm sure that no one knows where I could get a cheaper copy (but if you do speak up).

Does anyone know where I could gain access to some previews, or maybe an entire chapter, so I could get an idea if it's something worth purchasing?

And/or, would anyone be willing to give me a thorough explanation of what the book is about and what it covers?

Is it safe to assume that copies of this book will be written in english? That's a lot cheaper, I might purchase it from there if I choose to make the investment.

If you are somehow involved with universities as a student or teacher you most likely have a university library that has it.

Interlibrary loan. There are quite a few copies out there, so it should just be a matter of finding a local institution that will order it for you.

It's getting very difficult, Brill books (publisher) are very expensive. I tried to get one on an inter-library loan, only to be told that the British library will not lend off site any more. The only way is to get a reader number and travel to the British library to read your book there!

Duke U. has a copy, and there's another a few miles down the road. There are a few other copies within a couple of hundred miles. I think ILL has a chance, if the Duke copy hasn't disappeared.

My copy cost me 6 months worth of my discretionary book budget. It was worth it to me. I refer to it all the time.

For those of you in the southeastern US, the University of Alabama has a surprisingly well-worn copy. I have theirs until late August. It's huge and dense, but full of great information.

You will have to go to your closest public library and get them to do the ILL, or go to Duke and get a non university borrower's card. Then it will be treated like any book you have checked out. The good thing about going to Duke is that it might be possible to renew it, or at least check it out repeatedly as you are able.
