Hello
Are United Cutlery Museum Collection swords, just for show or are they "Battle Ready"? I`ve seen a few of them for sale in various places and thought I might pick one up before they disappear.

Thanks in advance

I cannot speak for any but the Lord of the Rings Museum Collection swords, but yes, at least the Glamdring and Ranger swords are full-tang. They have screw-on pommels and are made of low grade carbon steel, however, so it's very much a case of 'at your own risk'. They're far better than the usual run of wall-hangers as far as structural strength go, at least...

I can only relate what I do....

I would never pay one red cent for those items. Just me, others may have other opinions.

Reference piece - yes, I BUILT this.... bare blade, fittings from Yeshua, my scabbard, my grip - and it's an actual SWORD - not a wall hanger. CARBON STEEL, and capable of doing more that glorifying a mantlepiece:

Deep in the belly of the Ultimate Collectors board are discussions on the Museum Collection swords.
http://www.ucforums.com/viewforum.php?f=342

One thread I had read eons ago was someone receiving a Glamdring. These are Spanish made (read Marto) but are not stainless. The example related in that thread showed a pretty soft blade and then reports of inconsistency.

It is not unusual that any on the market have high asking prices. I am sure most owners baby theirs as collectibles

Cheers

GC.

Hello
I remember sparring with my brothers, with some Marto wall hangers, and almost losing a finger. Ah...good times.
Though they are pretty, I guess I`ll pass on the museum collection stuff.
