I was wondering: is the Geibig type 13v1 pommel group analogous to the Petersen type Y classification? There seems to be some overlap, and I understand that the two classification schemes were based on different regions, but I've noticed that there seems to be more variation within the examples given for type Y than there are for the 13v1 group. Could the dating schemes for the two and the blade data from Geibig be used to a certain extent for classifying and dating swords that are likely Petersen type Y?

I wonder if there's someone in this forum who can help you date and classify Viking sword hilts.
