I am currently looking into portraying a simple Merovingian and Carolingian man or foot soldier.
Could I do these two at the same time, like late Merovingian and early Carolingian?

Does anybody know a place on the web where I can get some online info like a forum, or a well documented website?
I am looking for info like clothing patterns and what or where to buy, and what and where to buy some simple weapons, like spear, knife, shield(boss) and possible some belt fittings and shoes...

Any idea's?

A good sword will only be sharp, in the hands of a wise man…

I am great fan of everything Celtic BC, including there weapons.

Just realised that I put my question on the "Historical Arms Talk" page.
If someone wants it rather somewhere else, please feel free move it to a better place...

Hi Folkert,

there is very little information available about Carolingian and Merovingian commoners, unfortunately. Ask Joost about Carolingians, he will be able to point you in the right direction.

Also, check the "9th century living history sources" group on FB, you will find quite a lot of articles if you dig through it.

Cheers

How can the sharing of information be considered spamming? All you're doing is keeping potentially good information from us.

Oh my, I forgot about this topic completely. Dick M. - yes, you are right, and I apologize. I will post as much info as I can, as soon as I can. First, The Stuttgart Psalter:

Lots of inspiring pictures... yes, I know that there is always a problem with interpreting illuminations, yet still, something better than nothing :)
