A gentleman contacted me and asked for assistance in ID'ing this blade (see attached pics) !

I told him I thought it to be a Kris blade, but I have very little knowledge in these style weapons ?

Any information would be appreciated , Mac

Yep, that's a kris. They're primarily Indonesian. I was in Malaysia a few weeks ago and saw several for sale. That looks like a good blade. Usually they have ornately carved wooden hilts and scabbards as well.

I agree, Mac. That's a keris blade. I'm not nearly expert enough to determine whether it's Malay or Indonesian, but it does look nice. If you post it over on the EEWRS, there are some true experts there that will give you suprisingly detailed information based on just your photos.

Incidently, the term "kris" is generally used when referring to the larger, Moro weapons of this form from the Philipines, and "keris" (pronounced "kris" as well) refers to the Indo/Malay knives.

Lee, I'm embarrassed that I mispelled your name in my first post on that thread! I'll correct it now. :)

Best,
Andrew
