This is a late 19th or 20th century Indo Persian khula khud helmet of a variety used for a type of romance play.

The mail is unmistankingly galvanized and butted, very late and is probably original to the rest of the piece but has oxidized differently because of its coating. more than likely a very late 20th c trinket

Marty,
Concur with the other two replies.
Used to see these at shows during the sixties and seventies, some without holes for mail for attaching mail.but all with the swiveling nasal. Did note something new to me......the bracket on the back.
