Any significance to the diamond in the square etched pattern? Is that a double fuller on the upper section and then a single on the lower section of the blade? Can't see that clearly even with enlarging the pic.

Yes it is a very pretty piece.
That mark on the blade is so prominent it must mean something. Maybe a Christian symbol of some sort. Can't tell. The blade looks to me like it's diamond section but with a flat surface in its upper fourth, making that section hexagonal. I see lots of blades like this in the artwork of this period/culture. It's hard to tell if that's a flat or a fuller, but I tend to think it's a flat.-Sean
